Inducing

3 hours into our hospital stay, and 5 minutes into May 23rd, meg asked me to update her blog. As those of you following her twitter have heard, she’s being induced because she’s developed preclampsia. This was suggested by vomitting, nausea, headaches all day today. A recent urine test confirmed what these symptoms indicated.

In order to prevent some of the nastier preclampsia symptoms meg was given magnesium sulfate in a bolus, followed by a more dilute dose. her skin felt on fire, and when this did not subside, they stopped the magnesium and drew blood to check her Mg levels. We’re waiting somewhat peacefully for these lab results to come back, meanwhile the pitocin is working its magic and increasing the strength and duration of meg’s contractions.

that’s all the news that’s fit to print. My twitter page has more real time updates.
