38 week Appt.
Dr. Johnson was nice. He and Dr. Hassigner are the only ones I know so far that actually looked at my chart without me telling them what’s been going on and saying “you had an ultrasound?”. He spent time looking at the ultrasound results and made some comments on him being small. Asked if the baby had a name yet, told him no. He didn’t seem worried about anything, but just said he was small, but I was measuring 38 weeks still and had lost a lb. At the ultrasound our little one was only weighing 5lb 9 oz. Even if he gains the normal oz. a day, he’ll only be around 7 lb. 4 oz., which is still in the normal range, so no worries. He kept asking me if I had any more questions. I really don’t have any. I asked if he was dropping, he said no, but he’ll get into position this week and next. I originally thought that they wouldn’t let me go overdue because of the high blood pressure, but now I’m thinking they’d let him stay in there and grow. Each morning I think he’s a little lower. Jay is even starting to comment.
At work they are starting to take a poll on names, weight, time, length, and day for birth. The winner is the one who has the most categories right. Jay’s trying to find some program that will allow you all to guess individually. He only has a program that lets you choose with multiple choice.
I did learn however, that bloody show and the mucus plug aren’t necessarily the same thing. Bloody show is a good indicator that labor will start in the next day or so and is a bloody mucus string that is from the cervix dilating. I also learned that you can loose your mucus plug and still not go into labor for weeks…aka Stacie. I haven’t really had any more Braxton Hicks since Sunday morning. Maybe he’ll like Sundays. Maybe he’ll be ontime!
I really just keep plugging a long at school getting done what I can each day. Every twing or change I take as a sign that I’m almost ready. I pay attention to everything.-Especially when he’s moving. The pink slip that the dr.’s office gives you says to call them when A. you have contractions increasing in strength 10 minutes apart or closer, B. your water breaks, C. the baby doesn’t move in 6 hours. I always thought I’d just start contractions. Never thought my water would break, but someone at work suggested that I keep an extra pair of pants and underwear and some pads just in case I do break at work.
Bags are packed and ready, I’m just trying to decide if I should keep the bags in Jays car or leave them by the door or put them in my car. I mean, if I start at work, I don’t have my bags, if I start at home the bags would be in my car anyway, but if Jay has the bags, he’ll get them there whenever he gets there. The only thing I don’t have packed up are the DS and games. Jay keeps playing them at night. He’s into Meteos at the moment. The Disney version.
NST this afternoon. Hope it’s another quick one.

Losing weight is also an indicator of labor starting. I lost a lb or too with all my pregnancies (except twinnies, they had their own agenda) and real labor started within a week later, fortunately the docs didnt have to do much for my “inductions”. They just supplemented what already started.
