Math and pregancy
Do I really know my due date? No. Not really. But does any one know an exact date? We can only take a pretty good guess from conception or the last missed period. I have tried using a couple of due date calculators, but most of them just assume a 28 day cycle, which I do not have. Baby Center, a great site for all sorts of information from trying to conceive to raising rug rats, has a calculator that estimates from your cycle length and last period: http://www.babycenter.com/calculators/duedate/ . If I assume a 33 day cycle, my due date will be March 1. Thank goodness it’s not a leap year! The baby would have had a due date of February 29.
This actual algorithm is founded by a german scientist named Naegele. It’s based off of a 280 day average term. To read a little more about him and his widely used meathod: http://members.cox.net/david.kutzler/Naegele.htm .
So basically I’ve got 40 weeks of pregnancy starting from my last period. According to the calculator, I am only 4 weeks pregnant. Why? Because I have a 33 day cycle it’s 5 days past a normal 28 day cycle. So everything is plus 5 including my due date and how many weeks pregnant I am. So tomorrow I’m technically 5 weeks along.
